Emercoin blockchain developers have released 16 updates including support of Segregated Witness (SegWit) protocol. Also a new Emercoin wallet version has been released to match the new rules of the blockchain and dSDKs.
According to the Emercoin team, these updates are the result of six months of development.

“First of all, we’ve updated Emercoin with Bitcoin core 0.14 and added support for SegWit (Segregated Witness). By removing transaction signature information and storing it outside the base transaction block, SegWit reduces the size of new transactions and as a result the size of the blockchain, solving the problem of transaction malleability,” the announcement says.
Transaction Optimizer is another important algorithm responsible for selection of an optimal subset of Unspent Transaction Outputs (UTXO) for a new outgoing transaction, and the new release saw it working 10x times faster. The precision was increased to subcents thus helping to decrease the size of transactions and blockchain in general. Now it is easier to collect a needed amount of EMC from different UTXOs without generating an additional and unnecessary UTXO.
Additionally STUN support was updated with addition of new servers to the existing list, which now consist of more than 200 independent servers, providing high level of user anonymity in Emercoin blockchain. Also, logging of STUN responses types was added.
The Emercoin team also places emphasis on the development of a base layer in the blockchain core for its new innovative technology called RandPay.
According to the developers, it is a micropayments/microtransactions technology which can be considered an alternative to the Lightning Network protocol that will work on Emercoin blockchain and enable the development of payment-oriented services. RandPay release is expected later this year.
The full list of recent updates can be found on Emercoin’s web-site.
Earlier this month, Emercoin announced that ENUMER, its free blockchain-based VoIP (voice over IP) system, now is a consistent stand-alone service that is being adopted by other companies.
