Beginner here. What does bitcoin cash do that other cryptos can't?

So i've recently started looking into different cryptos and i'm about to buy some in the coming days.

I've looked in BCH but can't see any reason why it would be successful in the future. As far as I can tell it goes like this

Bitcoin (BTC) is the oldest coin and has a “store of value” narrative. This makes it extremely attractive to people looking for a hedge against inflation and government printing. Especially in 3rd countries and dictatorships. It also has first mover advantage and is almost a household name.

ETH has the smart contract and DEFI angle and it looks promising if 2.0 lives up to expectations.

Then you have about 50 coins that come after and they all seem to do very little. They all have low fees and fast transaction times but no one uses them. Obviously i'm simplifying the situation and most of them have goals but interest is almost non existent outside of a small group.

As far as I can tell BCH is just a copy with a larger block size but no one is actually using the larger blocks because the chain doesn't really serve any purpose. Can someone please correct me if i'm wrong? It seems like apart from a few hundred/thousand dedicated people no one actually cares about or uses bitcoin cash? If that's so how does it have such a large marketcap? Does it simply follow bitcoin when it moves? Or are a lot of the coins simply unsold from the fork a few years ago?

Also I've looked into the lightning network and it appears to be making progress? Apparently I can download an app and send money instantly to someone else for free? Even lightning debit cards are being developed apparently?

Also what's with all the fighting on the front page? I'm not sure about any of the backstory but it seems like this project is being split apart and it's a little disturbing to know your investment is controlled or manipulated by other people behind the scenes. Is this accurate?
