Pre-warning I am a novice in crypto wallets and crypto in general and after a lot of reading am having no luck.
I was wondering if anyone may have information on legacy wallets from 2013, I do tech support services and a client of mine had me set up a lot of his crypto stuff but one of his wallets I cannot figure out how to gain access for him, he made this wallet in 2013 and I'm not sure which program he used to create it, and he doesn't remember. my best guess is that he used Multibit classic based on how the private key starts with U2 and has symbols such as +/ and an = at the end. He claims there should be 4 bitcoins in there that he bought from 2013 but I think he may have been scammed. I looked up the public address on blockchain and it shows that 0 transactions have been done on this wallet, not sure if it just wouldn't show as its been offline since 2013 or because its encrypted. Maybe there is just nothing in it. Anyways, he said if I can get him into his wallet I can have one of the bitcoins which would be a huge help to me starting my own tech business. So if anyone has a solution and he actually gives me one I'll send $1000 worth of the bitcoin to whoever can help me figure it out if possible. We think we know what the password would be if we can find the right program to decrypt the private key. I tried Multibit classic 0.5.18 with no luck.
