Many of you may have heard about the coup happening in Kazakhstan today. It's a sticky subject for the West as they benefit from the current Kazakh government, so for now they're calling it a "protest". Given the amount of gunfire, burning, and sacking of banks going on, it's unlikely that this is not an organized and armed assault on the government. Also, a statue of the president was ripped down, a hallmark of recent CIA coups. Biden will meet with Putin on Ukraine this week, so there is an obvious motive to strain Russian military capacity and thereby sustain Ukraine's US puppet government.
Kazakhstan is notable in the crypto scene for its vast BTC mining farms. KZ became a destination of choice for fleeing Chinese miners in 2021. At one point last year, KZ surpassed 20% of the total BTC hashrate. As of yesterday, Internet service for the entire country has been shut down. Power plants are also running at lowered capacity and the country is paralyzed. However, BTC hashrate right now is trending UP! Although it's possible that KZ miners have satellite net connections, I find it odd that we're not seeing a hashrate drop. And I do wonder if shutting down KZ miners is a cute little ancillary benefit for those behind this coup...
EDIT: We do have some major fluctuations in the BCH hashrate (https://www.coinwarz.com/mining/bitcoincash/hashrate-chart) at this moment. Hmmm
